We take dogs whose behaviour is spoiling their relationship with their owner and help them understand of how to behave to please everyone (except the burglars!)

Almost every dog put on earth has the capacity and the desire to behave exactly as it owner wants - BUT - it has first to understand what it is that the owner does want, which will be a little different from their natural pack instincts taught to them by their birth mother.

Making dogs happy

Our core activity is making dogs happy, whether when they are with their owners - or with us. We play with the dogs that stay with us all day and make sure they have toys that they like to play with, plenty of human company and learn not to jump on people coming in and out, they get music and activities like climbing frames and pools in the summer. .

What do we cost?

Boarding/Daycare Info Daycare $15/day (7:30am - 5:30pm after hours $10 charge)Boarding $20/day and night (pick up by 11am the next morning).

Happy dog environment

We have in floor radiant heating so there is never a draft, dog cots are up off the floor for maximum comfort and health. We have fresh water fountains providing moving, filtered water that are changed several times daily. Air purifiers and extractor fans to make the air they breathe as clean and fresh as possible with lots of dogs! .

Happy dog safety

We mop and clean the 3000 sq ft floor every day and clean every single toy and cot covers daily. We have the best and safest toys and we provide blankets and a large bucket of water with each dog in their 6 x 6 ft kennels at night. 2 or more dogs get a 10ft run if they like to be together and we have crates or will take yours for those that prefer crates. Some dogs do much better in a crate as they feel more den like to the dog..

Happy dog dedication

If that doesn't do it and we see signs of stress we will take the dog home with us for the night! This is a $5 charge but we do it out of love because that is how we would want our dog treated if we have to leave them. .

Happy dog health

We ask owners to provide their own food so that they do not get the runs or have stomach issues during their stay. We need to see proof of vacination: Current Rabies 1 year or 3 year Current Distemper/Parvo 1 year Bordetella (kennel cough) 6 mths We ask that no sick dog is bought in and we will take any sick dogs to the vets immediately, either yours or ours if you do not have one here. .

History and background

In the doghouse was created June 2009 by Marnie George to give dogs in and visiting Pagosa a place to stay and play all day long, to socialize and improve manners, behavior and be surrounded by people who adore them. I started as a shelter worker in England and learned animal behavior. Then took my degree at the University of Leeds in Animal Science, after which I became a vet tech and part time dog trainer. I have always adored dogs to the utmost degree. All animals are my passion but especially dogs and horses whose company is so very good for we humans.
